Yerevan municipality says kindergartens to continue to be free for children

YEREVAN, January 29. / ARKA /. A deputy mayor of Yerevan, Aram Sukiasyan, has denied rumors that parents of some 31,000 children attending 159 kindergartens in the capital city, run by the municipality, will have to pay for their children from next July.

Speaking at a news conference, he said the rumor is not true because the municipality is not planning to end funding of the pre-school institutions.

According to him, the main problem of preschool institutions in Yerevan is that 6000 children are waiting for their turn to be enrolled. He said one way to resolve this problem is to get back some kindergartens that were leased earlier to various companies. -0-
