Yerevan’s last district without natural gas to be gasified
YEREVAN, January 16. /ARKA/. Armenia’s government said Wednesday it will allocate 200 million drams to Yerevan City Hall for gasification of 29 apartment buildings in “Norashen” –the 16th quarter of Yerevan.
Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan said after some required works are finished up to 12,000 residents will be provided with natural gas, and there will be no district in Yerevan without natural gas supply.
“The residents applied to the responsible bodies, and even President Serzh Sargsyan, with the request to gasify the quarter. The head of State ordered to review the issue. We discussed the issue with ArmRosgazprom and agreed that the project is possible to implement,” he said and added that the program is already ready.
On his side, Armenia’s Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted Yerevan City Hall will earmark 100 million drams, and ArmRosgazprom—1 billion drams.
As of 1 December 2012, 636 187 people are subscribed to the gas network.
The number of ArmRosgazprom actual subscribers rose by 10,476 over 11 months.
ArmRosgazprom is the only company dealing with import and distribution of Russian natural gas coming to Armenia from Russia via Georgia. It was established in 1997. Russian Gazprom and Armenia’s government are its shareholders. ($1 – 407.58 drams). -0-
