YEREVAN, October 1. /ARKA/. Celebrations of 2795th anniversary of Yerevan, capital of Armenia, will be held on October 12-13, the city administration website reported.
Jubilee preparations that will start as from October 1 were discussed at a municipality meeting presided over by the mayor Taron Margaryan.
Some 30 stages will be installed throughout the capital for celebrations, according to the report.
The mayor assigned the respective agencies to discuss security measures during festivities.
Erebuni-Yerevan day was first observed in 1968, when the city turned 2750 years old.
Yerevan (Erebuni) was founded in 782 BC, 29 years before foundation of Rome, in the south-east of the Armenian Plateau by the King of Urarts Argishti the First. The stone plate with cuneiform saying when the city was founded is still kept in Erebuni museum-fortress. –0--
