Armenia’s David Safarian wins World Champion title

Armenian free style wrestler David Safaryan became world champion in the weight category of up to 66 kg, defeating in the final Lopez Azkuya from Cuba in the world championship being held in Budapest.
YEREVAN, September 17. /ARKA /. Armenian free style wrestler David Safaryan became world champion in the weight category of up to 66 kg, defeating in the final Lopez Azkuya from Cuba in the world championship being held in Budapest.
On the way to the final Safarian defeated Romania’s Gheorghe Bucur, Poland’s Rafal Statkievich, Russia’s Magomed Kurbanaliev and Georgia’s Levan Kelekhsashvili.
The bronze medals were won by Magomed Kurbanaliev and Mongolia’s Mandahnaran Ganzorig.
The 24-year-old Safarian is the current European champion and silver medalist of the World Summer Universiade in Kazan. -0-
