Aronian beats Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan in second round

YEREVAN, March 14. / ARKA /. Armenia’s top chess player Levon Aronian has defeated Shahriyar Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan today in the second  round of candidates chess tournament in Russian Khanty-Mansiysk. 

In the first round he lost to former world champion Viswanathan Anand of India. Aronian is playing in the tournament of contenders for the third time. 

In the 13th move the Azeri made a gross error that led to the loss of the queen. Mamedyarov desperately resisted, but was forced to surrender in the 44th move. 

In other pairings Peter Svidler (Russia) beat Dmitry Andreykina (Russia), Veselin Topalov (Bulgaria) drew with Viswanathan Anand (India).  Vladimir Kramnik (Russia) versus  Sergey Karjakin (Russia) game did not end yet. -0-
