YEREVAN, December 25. / ARKA /. Around 100 packages of ‘cloud services’ for Microsoft Office 365 were sold in Armenia in less than two months, according to Microsoft Armenia director Grigor Barseghyan. He said the first buyer was the Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction.
According to him, the localization of Office 365 in the Armenian language is already underway. It is so far available in English and Russian versions. Armenian interface and the Armenian spelling can be installed in case of desire, he added.
Office 365 is a subscription-based online office and software plus services suite which offers access to various services and software built around the Microsoft Office platform.
Serving as a successor to Microsoft's Business Productivity Online Suite, the service was originally designed to provide hosted e-mail, social networking and collaboration, and cloud storage to teams and businesses. As such, it first included hosted versions of Exchange, Lync, SharePoint,Office Web Apps, along with access to the Microsoft Office 2010 desktop applications on the Enterprise plan.
With the release of Office 2013, Office 365 expanded to include new plans aimed at different types of businesses, along with new plans aimed at general consumers wanting to use the Office desktop software on a subscription basis.
The cost of Office 365 for Armenian home users is about 3,000 drams monthly, for businesses the price ranges from 1,000 to 10,000 drams per month depending on the chosen package. For educational institutions it is free.
Microsoft’s cooperation with Armenia is backed by an agreement signed in 2007 in Edinburgh (Scotland). Under it Microsoft implements a number of investment projects in Armenia. As part of it Microsoft opened its Innovation Center in Armenia. ($ 1-405,28 drams). -0-
