Number of tourists in Armenia is increasing despite the crisis, said Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosyan to the journalists on Friday.
YEREVAN, November 12. /ARKA/. Number of tourists in Armenia is increasing despite the crisis, said Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy Ara Petrosyan to the journalists on Friday.

“In the first six months of the year internal tourism in Armenia registered growth of 15.1% compared with the same period of 2009 which is a good progress especially taking into account the fact that financial-economic crisis impacted the tourism sector seriously”, said Petrosyan.

Despite the registered world indicators of decline of tourist visits which were minus 4% in 2009, Armenia registered growth of tourism by 3%. More than 585 thousand tourists visited Armenia.

By the results of nine months the number of tourist visits to Armenia exceeded 487 thousand versus 422 thousand in the same period of 2009.
According to the data of National Statistic Service of Armenia, the number of tourists visited Armenia in January-September was increased by 15.6% compared with the indicator of the same period of 2009. Total number of tourists visited the country in the mentioned period was 487 902 people versus 422 081 in 2009.

Number of Armenian tourists visiting other countries was increased by 19.2% up to 474 617 people compared with January-September. --0--
