Annual number of tourists to exceed one million within two years, Armenian ministry of economy says
YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. Armenian ministry of economy is planning to bring the number of tourists arriving in Armenia to one million per year within two years, Armenian deputy minister of economy Ara Petrosyan told a press conference Wednesday.
Tourism growth rate was 11.3% in Armenia as of the end of 2012. Number of tourists visiting Armenia grew by 85,000 people to 843,330 in 2012 compared to 2011.
“If these rates are maintained, I think we will manage to ensure one million tourists every year already within two years”, Petrosyan said.
A 10-12% growth of tourism is expected in Armenia in 2013.
Tourists arriving in Armenia in 2012 were mainly from European countries, from Germany and France in particular; Spanish tourists have also become active. The next countries leading in number of tourists arriving in Armenia were Russia, the USA, Japan and Iran. –0--
