YEREVAN, October 9. /ARKA/. Armenia has a great tourism potential, but it should be advertised and promoted, Alexander Zorin, a chair of the Department of Scientific Expedition Tourism at Russian International Academy of Tourism, thinks.

Zorin participated in the first Armenian-Russian scientific expedition in Armenia from 30 September to 9 October.

The expedition was coordinated by Russian International Academy of Tourism and its branch in Armenia- Armenian Institute of Tourism.
The unprecedented event was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishing Russian-Armenian diplomatic relations. Its goal was also to reveal Armenia’s tourism potential and support this sphere’s development. The route was drafted throughout the whole territory of Armenia: from north to south.

“Of course, the potential is huge. We saw it ourselves, before we could only read about it. However, there is a lack of information in some sources, at least which we have read,” Zorin told Novosti-Armenia agency.

He believes the perspective tourism categories for Armenia are excursions, religious and pilgrimage tourism, as well as sport one: horseback riding, hiking, mountain tours.

“Armenia has all opportunities, beginning from rock climbing,” the expert said adding that other resorts do not have what Armenia has.
Zorin also noted that a Russian tourist needs to be informed of what Armenia is.

“Everything must be promoted, told. This is very interesting for Russian tourists. The country needs an advertisement,” he said.
