Armenia is interested in Greece’s experience of tourism industry development, Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan said today at the opening of the Armenian-Greek business forum in Yerevan.

YEREVAN, September 30th. / ARKA /. Armenia is interested in Greece’s experience of tourism industry development, Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan said today at the opening of the Armenian-Greek business forum in Yerevan. 

According to the president, Armenia would like to use Greece’s experience in building hotel infrastructure, implement joint programs with Greek tour operators and establish exchange of experience. 

"If we normally cooperate in this area with Greek organizations, Armenia will benefit, and entrepreneurs, will establish profitable businesses, as Greece has a very rich experience," said Sargsyan. 

According to him, Armenia has been recording progress in tourism industry for several years in a row and cooperation with the Greek side can give good results. 

"Armenia has adopted the policy of "open skies” to expand and improve the quality of air flights, said Sargsyan. 

According to the president, this policy is already bearing fruit. Thus, compared with the same period last year, the total volume of air traffic has grown by 25%. 

"The increase in the frequency of scheduled flights between Armenia and Greece will trigger the development of tourism,” said Sarsgyan. 

According to statistics, in the first half of 2014 Armenia was visited by 495,967 foreign tourists, a 17.3% increase from the year earlier. Passenger traffic through Yerevan Zvartnots airport in January-August 2014 grew to 1,375,507 people from 1,070,805 in the same period of 2013. -0-
