YEREVAN, July 9. / ARKA /. The National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia is trying to make its ties with other countries’ national travel agencies closer, the foundation’s press office reports.
Therefore, the foundation has taken part in the fourth session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s Silk Road Program in Tbilisi.
The aim of the program is to ensure stable development to tourism on this historical route, foster investments and preserve natural and cultural heritage here.
In particular, the program implies promotion of the initiatives and concepts aimed at improvement of marketing and effective administration.
According to the National Statistical Service, Armenia hosted 154,471 tourists in Jan-March 2014 – 20.5% year-on-year growth.
The number of tourists traveling from Armenia abroad rose 18.2% to 162,073. --0----
