YEREVAN, October 19. / ARKA /. Five Armenian companies and organizations - JSC International Airports Armenia, Armenia Marriott Hotel, www.armhotels.am on-line hotel reservation service, the Union of Incoming Tour Operators and LLC Tufenkian Hospitality have signed on Friday the instrument of accession to the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.
The signing ceremony was held on the sidelines of the International Conference of UN World Tourism Organization in Yerevan. The conference was attended by representatives from more than 15 countries, including the U.S., Germany, Italy and the CIS states. Officially, these five companies will join the Code in 2013 March.
"This is a very important step that will become a strong incentive for the development of tourism,’ Armenian economy minister, Tigran Davtian, said.
The Global Code of Ethics for Tourism was adopted by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, October 1, 2001 in Santiago, Chile. The document establishes a set of guidelines for the sustainable development of world tourism. It incorporates many of the ideas of previous similar declarations and professional codes. -0-
