Iran intends to expand cooperation with Armenia in medical, musical and eco tourism

YEREVAN, February 21. /ARKA/. Iran intends to expand cooperation with Armenia in medical, musical and eco tourism, Seyyed Muhammad Kazim Holdi- Nasab, a senior official from the Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, told journalists on Friday after meeting with Mekhak Apresyan, chief of the Armenian economy ministry’s division in charge of tourism.

He said that the tourism development is one of the new Iranian authorities’ top-priority focuses, and therefore Iran intends to expand cooperation with neighboring countries, including Armenia, in this area.

The Iranian official remembered that Iran and Armenia signed a mutual understanding memorandum in 1999 and a three-year plan of activity in tourism area in 2007 and added that Iran’s new authorities intend to reconsider the arrangements with Armenia made earlier.

Summarizing the results of the negotiation, the Armenian and Iranian officials said that they have signed a protocol to ensure stability to tourism development in both countries, to form a common regional tourism product, to boost it at the international market and to organize a number of exhibitions and festivals in the two countries.

According to official statistical reports, about 5,400 Armenian citizens traveled to Iran in 2013 and more than 110,000 Iranian citizens visited Armenia. -0---
