Number of tourists to armenia to grow by 7-10% in 2012 from 2011

YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. The number of tourists to Armenia will rise by 7-10% this year from 2011, Economy Minister Tigran Davtyan told journalists Thursday.

“Nearly 70,000 tourists visited Armenia in 2011, and this year we expect this figure to exceed by 7-10%,” Mr Davtyan said at the international conference “Universal values and cultural diversity in the 21st century: how can tourism maker a difference?”

The number of tourists coming to Armenia is gradually climbing : within the recent years it has jumped by average 8-10%, which is a quite high index for the development of any economy, and for its any sector.

“In fact, we have significant progress in this sphere, and we are already ready to increase the number of tourists in the near future,” minister said adding that tourist inflows to Armenia are no longer seasonal.

According to some reports and experts, stemming from researches in January-June 2012, 281,034 tourists visited Armenia, reporting 5.1% growth from a year earlier. --0-
