YEREVAN, June 12. / ARKA /. Armenia’s Territorial Administration Minister Armen Gevorgyan had a meeting today with a World Bank delegation, led by Ahmed Eiweida, the Bank’s Sustainable Sector Leader for Europe and Central Asia, to discuss preparation for a new program to boost development of tourism industry in Armenia’s southern regions.
The ministry’s press office said Gevorgyan and Eiweida discussed the possibility of attracting grant resources for the draft phase of the project and the selection of a coordinating structure to monitor the project.
It said the sides reached an agreement whereby the World Bank team will submit to the Armenian government relevant documents, after which the Armenian side will get down to the project’s preliminary process.
The WB team is also contributing to another program designed for sustainable development of the resort town of Dilijan in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank and the Initiatives to Develop Armenia foundation. A conference will be organized in the near future in Dilijan together with partners who will present their vision of how to develop this town, the ministry said. .-0-
