YEREVAN, May 12. /ARKA/. Yerevan is among seven most popular destinations in the Commonwealth of Independent States for those Russian citizens who want to travel outside their country for May holidays, Oktogo.ru online hotel booking service reported after reviewing the data from May 1 to 11.
The top seven CIS countries in the Oktogo.ru ranking were Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Moldova.
Top ten cities in the Commonwealth were Minsk, Tashkent, Almaty, Baku, Kyiv, Yerevan, Kishneu, Astana, Bishkek and Lviv.
The Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, attracts many independent travelers from Russia in early May. «The number of Russians traveling to CIS countries tripped in this year's May holidays. compared with the previous year's ,» said Olga Favarizova, head of Travel.ru (Oktogo) company's operational service.
She said Russian tourists travel to CIS cities for three days, on average, in early May and pay about 3,900 Russian rubles per day for accommodation in hotels.
According to Oktogo.ru, Russian tourists traveled to Yerevan for three and half days, on average, and paid about 7,000 rubles per day for accommodation.
Kazakhstan's southern capital, Almaty, was the city that hosted Russian tourists for the longest period of time – five days, on average. Russian guests paid about 4,000 rubles per day here for accommodation, and in Astana they paid 5,000 rubles.
Duration of Russians' tours in Minsk, Belarus' capital, averaged four days and per-day accommodation spending about 4,500 per day.
The lowest-cost CIS city was Bishkek – 1,400 per day for accommodation.
In this year's May, Kyiv went out of top three CIS cities.
