YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Pricing policy of the South Caucasian Railway for international, suburban and local passenger transportation services to come into force on January 1, 2013, was approved, press service of the South Caucasian Railway reported. The document was developed in line with international regulations and CIS railway transport council rules.
The main novelties within the pricing policy are introduced to simplify travel rules for passengers and reduce financial risks of the company.
According to the document, instead of previous 18, now 5 price zones are separated out for suburban transportation based on distance – up to 50km, from 51km to 100km, from 101km to 160km, from 161km to 220km and from 221km to 300km.
30-day season tickets are introduced for permanent passengers using country trains within a single zone. After the 48th trip during the 30 calendar day period, the passenger having such a season ticket will be able to travel free on the remaining days.
There is good news for international train passengers as well: on working days, price index coefficients will be reduced for interstate transportation, thus bringing the ticket prices down on the working days.
Basic price index coefficient will be reduced also for upper berths on the corporate passenger train “Armenia” to promote demand for those tickets.
The 2013 pricing policy shows that the South Caucasian Railway continues its efforts to attract more passengers to the railway, to increase servicing level and to make rail transport more popular among population.
The South Caucasian Railway closed joint stock company owned by Russian Railways ojsc is operating the Armenian railways in accordance with the concession agreement signed on February 13, 2008, for 30 years with an option of provision for an additional term of 10 years. –0--
