Areximbank tends to be among Armenia’s top three banks

The Areximbank plans to be among the top three bank of Armenia, the bank’s General Director Armen Khandakian said.
YEREVAN, January 25. /ARKA/. The Areximbank plans to be among the top three bank of Armenia, the bank’s General Director Armen Khandakian said.
The 12th with its assets, the Areximbank has good chances to be among the three leading banks in Armenia, according to him.
Khandakian pointed out that together with the Russian GasPromBank, the Areximbank has developed a strategy program. “Nowadays, it is market that dictates the banking rules,” the banker said.
Khandakian believes the country’s banking potential is not large enough to serve economy. However, with the help of the GasPromBank, the Areximbank will be able to offer a myriad of services both to individuals and corporate groups, according to him. “Lots of corporate customers in Armenian market need these services, but, unfortunately, the banks do not provide them what they need,” the Areximbank’s General Director said.
The ArmRosGasProm Company and its affiliates may become corporate customers for Armenia, according to Khandakian.
The GaspromBank became the Areximbank’s shareholder (80.09%) on November 29, 2007. The Raiffeizen bank also has shares in the Areximbank.
Established in 1990, the GasPromBank is among the top three banks in Russia and the fifth largest bank in the Central and Eastern Europe. The GasPromBank’s shareholders are the Gasfond Company (50% + one share), the GasProm OJSC (41.73%) and the Novfintech (8.27%), the GasPromBank’s subsidiary.
The Areximbank CJSC was founded in August 1998. The bank is a leader in the fields of consumer crediting and individual transfers. The Areximbank has 10 branches in Yerevan and Armenia’s regions. The bank is a VISA International и MasterCard International member. The Areximbank’s assets and capital totalled AMD $68.5mln and AMD 11.5mln respectively in 2007. The bank’s credit portfolio amounted to $33mln. -0-
