YEREVAN, November 17. / ARKA /. The French Air France airline intends to increase the number of flights from Paris to Yerevan, Levon Baghdasaryan, the head of Executive Travel, the distributor of the French company in Armenia said today.
"We intend to carry out serious work to increase the number of Air France’s flights to Armenia", - he said during an event marking the 10th anniversary of the maiden flight of the carrier to Armenia.
He said the ‘open skies’ policy adopted by Armenia’s government is an important step for boosting tourism and the country's economy.
‘The free market provides for strong competition, but unfortunately, Armenian airlines were unable to compete with foreign ones," - said Baghdasaryan.
According to the regional manager of Air France-KLM Frank Vant Hof , today the airline operates four flights to Yerevan per week in summer, and two - in winter. "Over the last 10 years, the airline transported in two directions around 500 thousand passengers," - he added.
The first flight operated by Air France from Paris to Yerevan was in April 2006. Air France was founded in 1933. In 2004 Air France-KLM group was formed that now carries daily about 2.2 thousand flights worldwide. It offers flights to 320 destinations in 114 countries.-0-
