AmCham: Armenian government on right path to development of business climate

Serious progress made by Armenia in “Doing Business – 2013” ranking of the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank shows that Armenian Government has taken a right path to development of business environment, says the report of the press service of American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham).

YEREVAN, October 24. /ARKA/. Serious progress made by Armenia in “Doing Business – 2013” ranking of the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank shows that Armenian Government has taken a right path to development of business environment, says the report of the press service of American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham).
Armenia has moved 18 places up in the mentioned report and now occupies 32nd place in the list of 184 countries, between the Netherlands (31st) and Belgium (33rd), leaving behind France (34th), Israel (38th), SAR (39th) and Spain (44th).
AmCham welcomes the fact that Armenia has improved its indicators for a number of categories, including “Protecting Investors” (from the 98th to the 25th), “Paying Taxes” (from 152nd to 108th), “Getting Electricity” (from 143rd to 101st), “Dealing with Construction Permits” (from the 49th to 46th), says the press release.
“However, many issues still remain unresolved, and there is a need of radical changes in a number of areas, such as fighting corruption, securing fair tax administration, protecting competition, enforcing contracts, etc.”, says the release.
AmCham encourage Armenian government to continue the reforms aimed at improvement of the business environment in Armenia and pledge their full support to the efforts.
American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia is an independent business association established in 2000. AmCham is representing more than 100 companies from almost all economic fields.
