Armenia and Iran plan joint production of crabs

Armenia and Iran are considering the possibility of establishing a joint production of crabs in the territory of Armenia, the Armenian ministry of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said today during a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Armenia Seyed Kazem Sajjadi.
YEREVAN, November 27. /ARKA/. Armenia and Iran are considering the possibility of establishing a joint production of crabs in the territory of Armenia, the Armenian ministry of agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said today during a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Armenia Seyed Kazem Sajjadi.
The ministry said crabs are supposed to be exported to the Eurasian Economic Union member countries, where the demand for these products is very high.
Karapetyan was quoted as saying in a ministry’s press release that both countries have a large untapped reserve to boost their economic ties, in particular in the field of sheep breeding and poultry farming, joint greenhouse farms, as well as in introduction of drip irrigation and production of anti-hail nets.
The ambassador said that Iran and Armenia could also fruitfully cooperate in production of seeds and flowers.
Karapetyan suggested that both counties hold agricultural business forums to enable Armenian and Iranian businessmen to learn more about each other.
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the Armenian-Iranian trade turnover in the first 9 months of 2015 dropped by 1.4% from the year before to $202.8 million. -0-
