Armenia and Russia to set up joint airline – minister

Armenia and Russia are set to create a joint airline, Armenian Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Vahan Martirosyan, said today.

YEREVAN, January 26. /ARKA/. Armenia and Russia are set to create a joint airline, Armenian Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Vahan Martirosyan, said today.
According to media reports, during Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s visit to Moscow earlier this week, the two sides set up a task force to look into the possibilities of establishing an Armenian national airline that would operate flights by Russia-made SSJ100 aircraft. According to Russian sources, a roadmap of the project, which is being carried out jointly by Russian Sukhoi Civil Aircrafts and Soglasie companies, has been developed.
Speaking to reporters, Vahan Martirosyan explained that the sides discussed establishing a joint airline, not an Armenian national airline.
The minister could not say what the shares of the parties in the new company will be , emphasizing that all the issues are still under discussion. He noted that the participation of the Armenian government in the joint project was not discussed yet. -0-
