YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. Armenia has enough slaughterhouses to provide the country's public catering facilities with fresh meat, Georgy Avetisyan, head of the State Food Safety Service, said today at a meeting with representatives of the Union of Restaurateurs, Farmers and Meat Suppliers.
According to the State Food Safety Service, the head of the agency urged interested parties to find a quick solution to the process of supplying fresh meat by slaughterhouses.
"There are interested parties that are ready to invest in this process. By the end of the year, we will have enough slaughterhouses, and we will be able to provide meat to the entire market," he said.
During the discussion, it turned out that most of the pig farmers already have their own slaughterhouses, and those who do not have, plan to open them. The regulator promised to train farmers to fill out the electronic versions of their mandatory reports.
From January 15, 2020, only the meat of animals slaughtered in slaughterhouses will be allowed for sale. -0-
