YEREVAN, October 20. /ARKA/. Armenia has the opportunity to improve its standing in the World Bank’s "Doing Business" Index by 4 points, prime minister Karen Karapetyan said today during an extraordinary session of parliament.
"It is necessary to simplify the procedure for issuing permits for licensed businesses. It will help improve Armenia's position in the World Bank ranking " Doing Business "by 4 points meaning that Armenia will become more attractive for investments.", Karapetyan said.
He urged the lawmakers to create favorable conditions for law-abiding taxpayers, as well as to revise the image of the tax and customs inspectors.
"Citizens, especially entrepreneurs, have to understand that tax and customs inspectors are not the lords of their lives, but their helpers. We are going to introduce ‘single window’ procedure at customs checkpoints for the submission of all required documents and all contacts with taxation service will be minimized for businesses," - Karapetyan said.
At the same time he said that tax evasion will be severely punished.
According to the World Bank’s "Doing Business 2016" Index, Armenia rose by three points to the 35th place among 189-nations, the best indicator among CIS countries. -0-
