Armenia’s construction sector grew by 2.2% in 2017 amounting to a total of 415.8 billion drams, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).

YEREVAN, February 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s construction sector grew by 2.2% in 2017 amounting to a total of 415.8 billion drams, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS). Armenia’s construction sector had been on decline since 2009, reporting a slight rise of 0.2% in 2014.

The population-financed construction grew by 0.1% to 102.1 billion drams making 24.6% of the total construction last year. The corporate-financed construction declined by 1.8% to 186.4 billion drams or 44.8% of the total. 

Also 8.2 billion drams worth construction was financed by humanitarian aid (an increase of 57.3% % from 2016), the government-financed construction dropped by 2.2% to 38.5 billion drams and the community-financed construction slashed by 26.1% to 6.4 billion drams.

Also 74 billion drams worth construction or 17.8% of the total was financed by international loans, an increase of 20.5% from the previous year. The largest portion was funded by World Bank loans -15.6 billion drams, followed by EBRD loans - 1.8 billion drams, the EIB - 9.4 billion drams, the Asian Development Bank - 17.3 billion drams, the German Development Bank - 826.3 million drams, Russia - 9.7 billion drams, and 19.2 billion drams worth construction was financed by other international loans.
