YEREVAN, February 18. /ARKA/ Prompted by a dramatic drop in the prices of eggs ascribed by some to overproduction, Armenia's Food Safety Inspectorate has launched a massive checkout of local poultry farms.
When checking the Myas LLC (Baghramyan poultry farm) in the Myasnikyan community of Armavir region, the regulator found 150 boxes of expired eggs (54,000 pieces), which were destroyed on the spot. A similar check at Lusakert LLC, revealed 130,000 eggs which were 'produced' on February 19, 20, and 22, 2020.
The poultry farm was ordered to stop selling its products and samples were taken to determine the eggs' freshness. The results of the laboratory examination will be announced later. -0-
