Armenia's foreign trade in the first 9 months of 2015 slashed by 20% from the same time of 2014 to $3.457.4 billion, the National Statistical Service (NSS) said.

YEREVAN, October 30. / ARKA /. Armenia's foreign trade in the first 9 months of 2015 slashed by 20% from the same time of 2014 to $3.457.4 billion, the National Statistical Service (NSS) said.
According to official data, exports in January-September fell by 0.9% to about $1.095.6 billion and imports plunged by 26.6% to about $2.361.7 billion. The resulting trade deficit stood at $1.266.1 billion. The negative trade balance in FOB prices was $902.4 million, NSS said.
Armenia's foreign trade with former Soviet republics making the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) fell by 16.5% to $1.014.5 billion (29.3% of the total trade); trade with Russia declined by 14.1% to $871.3 million; trade with Ukraine plunged by 35.7% to $94.7 million and trade with Belarus dropped by 17.3% to about $23.2 million.
The trade with EU countries in January-September 2015 declined by 25.8% to approximately $881 million (25.5% of the total trade) and trade with other countries declined by 18.7% to $1.561.8 billion (45.2% of the total).
The most significant export items were mining industry - about $345.2 million (an increase of 22%), finished food products - $211.4 million (a drop of 10.8%), base metals and products - about $174.9 million (23% decline).
The most significant import items were mining products - about $495.9 million (a decline of 19.6%), machinery, equipment and mechanisms - $288 9 million (a decline of 30.7%), finished food products - $224.6 million (decline of 10.2%). ($ 1 - 472.78 drams). -0-
