Armenia’s foreign trade up 4.2 percent in four months of 2016

Armenia’s foreign trade in January-April 2016 increased by 4.2% year-on-year to $1.457.6 billion, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).

YEREVAN, June 1. /ARKA/. Armenia’s foreign trade in January-April 2016 increased by 4.2% year-on-year to $1.457.6 billion, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).
Exports are said to have increased by 22.2% to approximately $514.5 million, while imports declined by 2.5% to about $943.2 million. As a result, the negative trade deficit decreased to $428.7 million from $556.2 million a year earlier. The trade deficit in FOB prices was worth $283.4 million.
Armenia's trade with CIS countries in the reporting period grew by 8.1% to approximately $355.2 million (24.4% of the total trade); the trade with Russia grew by 12.4% to $399.6 million; trade with Ukraine declined by 19.6% to $33.1 million; trade with Turkmenistan grew by 10.4% to about $6.3 million and trade with Belarus shrank by 8.9% to $8.4 million.
The trade with EU countries in January-April 2016 dropped by 0.1% to approximately $355.2 million (24.4% of the total trade), and trade with other countries increased by 4.2% to $652 million (44.7% of the total).
Exports of mining industry products upped by 2.4% to $145.8 million; exports of finished food surged by almost 42% to about $112.7 million; exports of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and items grew by 76.5% to about $95.8 million.
At the same time, according to official statistics, imports of mining industry products declined by 4.3% to $206.8 million; imports of machinery, equipment and mechanisms grew by 9.7% to $117.8 million and imports of finished food grew by 19.7% to $100.8 million. ($ 1 - 477.55 drams).-- 0--
