Armenia's SRC lowers threshold for duty-free online trading for individuals to about 370 euros
YEREVAN, March 24. /ARKA/. On March 18, 2022, Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC) said that at a March 17 meeting the Eurasian Economic Commission's (EEC) Board had raised the threshold for duty-free online trading for individuals who import goods the personal use from 200 euros to 1,000 euros.
The SRC said the threshold rise will be effective until October 1, 2022. If the value of the parcel exceeds 1000 euros, or its weight is more than 31 kg, it will be required to pay a duty in the amount of 15% of the value of the order, but not less than 2 euros per 1 kg.
The SRC said this decision will allow to support citizens who order goods for personal use in foreign online stores, and to avoid a shortage of goods. The decision comes into force after 10 calendar days since the date of its official publication.
However, on March 23 the SRC said that the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board dated December 20, 2017, allows Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) members to set more stringent cost, weight and (or) quantitative norms, envisaged by their national legislations.
'In accordance with paragraph 1 of part 4 of Article 249 of the Armenian Law on Customs Regulation, the duty- free threshold for online trading is 200,000 drams (about 370 euros) or 30 kg. Therefore, when the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board dated December 20, 2017 comes into force on March 31, the threshold for duty-free online trading for individuals in Armenia will be 200,000 drams and (or) 30 kg.,‘ it said.
The SRC said also it was considering the expediency of harmonizing the national legislation with the regulations of the EEU. -0-
