Armenia’s State Food Safety Service said today it has imposed temporary restrictions on import of meat products from Russia and some other countries to prevent African swine fever and bird flu from entering the country.

YEREVAN, December 14. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Food Safety Service said today it has imposed temporary restrictions on import of meat products from Russia and some other countries to prevent African swine fever and bird flu from entering the country. 

In particular, on December 14 the agency banned the imports of live pigs, their genetic material, pork and other raw meat, wild boar meat, and finished products containing pork.

The ban applies also to horns, hooves, hides, guts, bristles and other raw materials, all types of feed and feed additives for pigs (with the exception of synthetic and chemical additives).

It also banned the import of all types of live poultry, all types of poultry meat, raw materials (feathers, down), hatching eggs, feed, feed additives (except those containing synthetic and chemical substances), polymeric and cardboard boxes and cardboard (bumpy) gaskets for packaging.

According to the agency, the decision was made on the basis of data from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), as well as on a relevant decision of the Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor). -0-
