YEREVAN, August 13. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Revenue Committee (SRC) has revealed a set of breaches in the process of purchasing cash registers, SRC Deputy Chairman Edward Hovhannisyan told reporters on Tuesday.
He said a criminal case has been opened into these violations committed during the acquisition of cash registers in 2017-2018. The cash registers had been bought by a state non-commercial organization. The preliminary investigation revealed that the contractual cost of cash registers under a contract concluded with a China-registered Pax Technology Limited, was higher than their prices that time.
Hovhanissyan said the investigation launched after a series of media reports has obtained enough evidence to initiate criminal proceedings.
He refrained from providing details of the case, as well as the amount of the transaction, emphasizing that the investigation is underway, and that that information is not subject to disclosure.
“It is still difficult to say whether it was abuse or corruption; the answer will be given by the investigation. However, the obtained data was sufficient to state the fact of abuse during the transaction,” Hovhannisyan said. –0-
