Armenia to be able to attract grants totaling €54 million under EU program
YEREVAN, March 14. /ARKA/. Garegin Melkonyan, Armenian first deputy economic development and investments minister told journalists on Tuesday that Armenia would be able to attract grants totaling €54 million under the European Union’s TESIM program for 2014-2020.

The project beneficiaries are eight countries – Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Turkey.

The essence of the program is that public and private organizations from the mentioned countries submit joint programs for the next two or three years.

Each program can require financing ranging from €300,000 to €1.5 million.

Melkonyan said this is the second TESIM program in Armenia – the first one was implemented a few years ago. The then total financing amounted to €27 million.

Earlier, Armenia has been involved in 22 programs, and was high-priority partner in three of four of them in particular areas, such as small and mid-scale businesses, environment, trade, culture and tourism.

“Today we are discussing the second stage, and preparations for it began in 2014,” Melkonyan said.

“Necessary paperwork has been made over two years and the project was launched in January.

Applications are accepted until Mat 31. We tried to do our best to inform Armenia’s public and the organizations operating in the country about the program…”

In his words, the new stage will be focused on trade, economic relations, environment, culture, tourism and SME development.

Both governmental and nongovernmental organizations may apply for grants.

Partners from the European Union and Eastern Partnership countries will be considered as one of the key criteria for selection. Readiness to finance 8% of the project, maybe as human resources, will be welcomed as well. --0---
