Armenian antitrust agency urges brandy makers to refrain from unfair competition

Armenia's State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition is conducting a large-scale monitoring at the brandy market.The press office of the commission says that the law regulating the industry is being analyzed now, and the commission is likely to come up with legislative initiatives. The brandy subject to be sold in Armenia and the brandy to be exported to other countries will undergo laboratory examination, if necessary.
YEREVAN, September 25. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition is conducting a large-scale monitoring at the brandy market.The press office of the commission says that the law regulating the industry is being analyzed now, and the commission is likely to come up with legislative initiatives. The brandy subject to be sold in Armenia and the brandy to be exported to other countries will undergo laboratory examination, if necessary.
According to the press release, some 1 million liters of brandy spirit are imported into Armenia every year, and the antitrust agency will take necessary measures to prevent unfair competition.
The commission cooperates with other state agencies to obtain the necessary information. "Some data arouse concern - in particular, it is necessary to learn if the declared volumes of the purchased grapes correspond to real things," the antitrust agency says in its press release.
The agency urges produced to refrain from unfair competition and other actions breaching the law on competition. Results will be released to public upon completion of the monitoring. -0---
