YEREVAN, January 8. /ARKA/. Representatives of the Armenian Association of Restaurants will meet with acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to discuss several issues of concern, according to a statement on the official Facebook page of the Association.
"During a today’s meeting with a delegation of the Armenian Association of Restaurants, the head of the State Revenue Committee David Ananyan assured that he shares the concerns of the Association members regarding the increased taxes for restaurants," according to the statement. The meeting with Pashinyan is scheduled for the end of the week, it said.
"The representatives of the Association expressed hope that an acceptable solution would be found to resolve the problem," the statement said.
Under the changes in the Tax Code that came into force on July 1, 2018, a fixed tax per each square meter was replaced for restaurants with 6% VAT. In 2019, the government plans to raise the tax rate to 8% and to 10% in 2020.
Earlier, restaurant owners said they would close their establishments for one day in January in protest, if no solution is found to the problem. -0-
