Armenian building materials can replace Chinese materials in EEU markets

Armenian building materials producing companies have a good chance to step up their exports to Russia and other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), according to Sergei Sidorsky, a member of the Board (minister) of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive body of the EEU.

YEREVAN, July 21. / ARKA /. Armenian building materials producing companies have a good chance to step up their exports to Russia and other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), according to Sergei Sidorsky, a member of the Board (minister) of the Eurasian Economic Commission, the executive body of the EEU.

Speaking to Armenian reporters in Yerevan today he said officials in the Eurasian Economic Commission have a clear understanding of the present day Armenian industry. He said Armenian building materials, particularly, construction and facing materials can replace Chinese materials which dominate now the markets not only in Russia, but also in Kazakhstan and Belarus.

"I think it will happen soon," said Sidorsky. 

Sidorsky also recalled quality shoes and textile goods made in Soviet Armenia. 

'Now Armenia is moving from the formula  "buy-sell" to creation of new industries to raise the economy," said Sidorsky. 

According to official numbers, construction sector in Armenia in the first half of 2015 grew by 0.6% from the same time span of 2014 to 134.9 billion drams.  ($ 1 - 480.33 drams). -0-
