YEREVAN, April 9. /ARKA/. Armenian customs officers at Baavra and Bagratashen checkpoints on Armenia's border with Georgia prevented smuggling of large batches of medicines, the State Revenue Committee (SRC) reported.

One batch was discovered in a car driven by E.N. at Bgratashen checkpoint. During the X-ray inspection of the car packages were found in the pre-prepared caches in the doors.

The car was sent to the hangar for a more detailed inspection, where it was found out that the hidden packages contained medicines with a total weight of 21 kg, as well as empty boxes of medicines with a weight of 3 kg.

Employees of the Bavra border checkpoint also foiled illegal transportation of a large consignment of medicines.

In particular, during the inspection of the car traveling from Georgia to Armenia, it was found out that there was a specially equipped secret compartment between the back seat of the car and the trunk, where the customs officers found 25 different types of medicines weighing 20 kg.

Administrative proceedings were initiated on both cases under the relevant article of the law On Customs Regulation. -0-
