Armenia’s food safety watchdog has imposed a ban on imports of pork and poultry from several Russian regions, where animals are said to have been ill with African swine fever and avian influenza.

YEREVAN, August 29. /ARKA/. Armenia’s food safety watchdog has imposed a ban on imports of pork and poultry from several Russian regions, where animals are said to have been ill with African swine fever and avian influenza.
The State Food Safety Service said the ban, in effect from August 28, applies also to live pigs, their genetic materials, hides, pork and other meat, , meat of wild pigs, finished products with pork, horns, hooves, guts, all types of feed and feed additives for pigs (except for synthetic and chemical additives).
The ban also restricts imports of all species of live poultry, all kinds of chicken meat, feathers, fluff, hatching eggs, feed, feed additives (except for synthetic and chemical-containing substances), polymer and cardboard boxes.
According to the agency, the decision was made on the basis of data from the World Organization for Animal Health, which say cases of African swine fever and avian flu have been reported in Russia.--0-
