YEREVAN, November 14. /ARКА/. The government of Armenia is negotiating the acquisition of two Russian ferries to resolve a long string of problems which Armenian exporters encounter when trying to enter from the Georgian Upper Lars border checkpoint into Russia, Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Minister  Suren Papikyan said during a parliament Q&A session.

He said after the construction of a  bridge connecting the mainland Russia with the Crimea peninsula, Russia has ferries, which ceased operations.

'We must understand how to get them at the most affordable price. Now we are expecting the Russian side's response," the minister said.

The Upper Lars border crossing is landlocked Armenia’s sole overland conduit to Russia and Europe. Because  of weather conditions, as well as landslides and avalanches, it is often closed for all types of traffic. -0-
