YEREVAN, September 19. /ARKA/. A customs clearance house for imported cars in Armenia's second-largest town of Gyumri will open October 11, the head of the State Revenue Committee David Ananyan said during a government session today.

The government decided today to release more funds for the project. It  had already released 1.147 billion drams and by today's decision it will release another 970 million drams for construction work.

"We are meeting the deadlines, perhaps we will switch to a 24-hour shift. The customs house will definitely start operating from October 11, but the official opening ceremony will depend on the presence of the Prime Minister in the country," Ananyan said.

David Ananyan said earlier that the decision to relocate the customs office for cars to Gyumri is part of a larger project to facilitate external economic activities. In his words, the customs house will be part of a service center for foreign economic activities in Gyumri.

He also said the relocation of the customs house for vehicles was prompted by the fact that the number of cars imported to Armenia from outside the Eurasian Economic Union-member countries has sharply increased and is still expected to rise. ($1 - 476.22 drams). -0-
