Armenian government should promote domestic wines on world markets - co-founder of Alluria winery
YEREVAN, April 12. /ARKA/. Co-founder of Alluria winery Samvel Machanyan says the Armenian government should support local winemakers.
"This industry has been developing quite well in recent years and that is why it should not be left to drift at its own. If we want Armenian wines to win their special place at the world markets, the government should help wineries to showcase their products at all world wine fairs, although this is quite expensive," he said in an interview with ARKA-Business program on ARKA Youtube channel.
Machanyan suggested that Armenian winemakers and factory representatives visit various international fairs and see what is going on there and how much love is invested in it all.
He also praised the Armenian Vine and Wine Foundation, pointing out that the government has been trying to shut this structure for years, which is being opposed actively by winemakers.
"The Foundation secures our representation at various events and exhibitions. It is a big job, but it has an extremely limited budget," Machanyan noted.
