Armenian insurance companies paid 6.3 billion drams in car insurance compensation claims in eight months

All seven Armenia-based insurance companies paid a total of 6.3 billion drams in 33,129 car insurance compensation claims in the first eight months of this year, a decrease of 7.1% compared to the first eight months of 2013, a statement posted on the official website of Armenia’s Car Insurers’ Bureau says.

YEREVAN, September 22. / ARKA /. All seven Armenia-based insurance companies paid a total of 6.3 billion drams in 33,129 car insurance compensation claims in the first eight months of this year, a decrease of 7.1% compared to the first eight months of 2013, a statement posted on the official website of Armenia’s Car Insurers’ Bureau says. 

According to the statement, the leading company by size of paid insurance claims was Rosgosstrakh – Armenia – 2.4 billion drams. Ingo Armenia was second with more 1.2 billion drams and Reso was third with more than 781 million drams paid in insurance claims. 

Nairi Insurance paid 752 million drams, Sil Insurance – 599 million drams, Armenia Insurance – 439 million drams and Garant Insurance - 42.9 million drams. 

According to the statement, in August alone the companies paid 743 million drams in 3,736 claims. The average amount of a claim was 192,227 drams.

According to the statement, at the end of August 2014 there were 446,321 insured vehicles in Armenia, by 4,300 less than in July.

The amount of insurance premiums in January-August totaled 12.45 billion drams, having increased by 7.8% compared to the same period last year.

The mandatory insurance against physical damage caused to other cars and individuals became mandatory in Armenia on January 1, 2012.  . ($1-407.63 drams).  - 0–
