Armenian ministry of agriculture calls on winegrowers to treat their vineyards with antifungal serum
YEREVAN, August 9. /ARKA/. The Armenian ministry of agriculture has called on winegrowers today to  treat their vineyards with  antifungal serum to prevent the spread of a  disease called "oidium" triggered by a sharp rise in air temperature in the country.

Speaking at a news conference deputy minister of agriculture Robert Makaryan said  the  temperature in the northern regions, as well as mountainous areas will rise to  30-32 degrees, while in  the central and southern regions it will reach 35-39 degrees.

Oidium is a type of fungal disease. Its pathogen is Uncinula necator Burr (or Oidium tuckeri Berk.). The affected grape can not be used for processing due to the strongly expressed taste of mold.

According to the recommendations of the ministry of agriculture, to prevent the spread of the disease vineyards should be  treated with antifungal serum in the early morning or in the evening. Experts also recommend increasing the irrigation of vineyards  in the evening and night hours. -0-
