YEREVAN, July 25. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Inspection for Market Control, an affiliation of the Economy Ministry, said it had imposed 8 million drams worth penalties on liquefied natural gas filling stations in the first half of the year for failure to meet a mandatory requirement.

Speaking at a Wednesday news conference, head of the agency, Levon Khalikyan, said when examining the stations, the agency sought to find out whether all stations comply with a requirement to install special distribution towers.

He said at the beginning of 2011 only five stations had distribution towers. Today their number has reached 187, another 60 companies running stations have already signed contracts for production and installment of towers, he said. He said at present there are 251 liquefied natural gas filling stations in Armenia.

Armenia is first in terms of the number of its cars and trucks running on natural gas. The figure is 75 percent. ($1 – 410,50 drams). -0-
