Armenian nature protection ministry and German KfW bank discuss water management issues

Armenia’s Nature Protection Minister Erik Grigoryan received today Maron Kniesch, the head of the German Development Bank (KfW) department in charge of communal infrastructural programs, the newly appointed head of a program for integrated management of water resources of Akhuryan River in Armenia Robert Roth, and its representative in Armenia Zara Chatinyan.

YEREVAN, August 30. /ARKA/. Armenia’s Nature Protection Minister Erik Grigoryan received today Maron Kniesch, the head of the German Development Bank (KfW) department in charge of communal infrastructural programs, the newly appointed head of a program for integrated management of water resources of Akhuryan River in Armenia Robert Roth, and its representative in Armenia Zara Chatinyan.

Grigoryan was quoted by the ministry as saying that Armenian government appreciates highly cooperation with the KfW bank in the field of nature protection. He was said to have also the need for  expansion and deepening of that cooperation.

In turn, Kniesch spoke about the status of the construction of Kapsi water reservoir in Armenia, financed by the bank. He then drew attention to the process of assessing the environmental and social impact of the program.

Grigoryan, in his turn, said integrated management of water resources of the country is a government priority because of global climatic changes and agricultural growth. In this sense, he emphasized the importance of large-scale programs implemented with the German side. 0-
