YEREVAN, April 22. /ARKA/. The Armenian National Assembly elected Monday Gegham Gevorgyan as head of the State Committee for Protection of Economic Competition. Of 132 MPs 121 took part in the vote. Of them, 95 voted for the candidate and 26 against him.
Gevorgyan will succeed in office Artak Shaboyan, who has run the anti-trust agency since March 2010. Gevorgyan, who is the acting agriculture minister now, promised earlier that he will sort through causes of high prices for air tickers.
The opposition voted against his candidacy pointing out that the Counting Chamber has found out that the agriculture ministry, run by him over a period between 2016 and 2018, has failed to ensure effective implementation of economic development programs. -0---
