YEREVAN, January 19. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan told tax authorities today to look deeper into numerous irregularities in taxpayers’ reports, revealed by the State Revenue Committee and take action.
Earlier, at a meeting on September 15 Karapetyan had told the State Revenue Committee to inspect only those companies which were in the "risk zone." He also had said that SMEs should be ‘bothered’ only when there were serious grounds.
In particular, Karapetyan noted today at a government session that many reports were incomplete lacking reliable information about sales volume, prices, number of employees and their salaries, supply of goods and contained also inflated costs and abuses of cash register operation rules.
"I think it is necessary to clarify that the so-called "soft (tax) administration" can and should apply only to the law-abiding taxpayers. Any manifestation of tax evasion, regardless of the type of taxpayer must be stopped", said Karapetyan.
In this regard, he told the State Revenue Committee to closely monitor these phenomena by applying all the available tools and provide quarterly reports about abuses to the prime minister’s oversight service. He also instructed the State Revenue Committee to periodically publish the lists of both law-abiding taxpayers and tax evaders.-0-
