YEREVAN, April 20. /ARKA/. Armenian road police officers have escorted so far 1,271 trucks which brought various goods to Armenia from Iran, Hayk Mheryan, deputy head of the Police, said today.

He said as part of safety measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the movement of truck drivers and the accompanying persons was limited.

To ensure epidemiological standards, all goods imported from Iran are handed over to  the Armenian side in the border zone- from one truck  to another, while the contacts between Iranian drivers and accompanying persons are  minimized.

Hayk Mheryan said the traffic police and the Patrol Service also provided escort for people arriving at Zvartnots International Airport, who were placed under quarantine on the territory of Armenia.

Armenia closed the border with Iran in March, allowing only trucks with special cargo to enter the country. Armenian authorities have allocated special areas for Iranian drivers to have rest.

Armenian health officials examine the drivers' health condition at the border checkpoint. --0--
