YEREVAN, February 21. /ARKA/. Armenia’s State Property Agency intends to attract this year investments totaling at least $16,849 million under the agreements signed by the agency, Arman Sahakyan, head of the agency, said Tuesday at a news conference.

In his words, the agency controls various obligations fixed by 155 agreements, of which 54 are contracts implying investment obligations amounting to $89.3 million.

Sahakyan said that $2.46 million of the investments expected in 2017 were postponed on the agency’s consent. Unfulfilled obligations reduced by 86% in 2017, compared with the previous year.

The investment growth in 2018, he said, may be ensured thanks to investments in Dvin Hotel, where construction is under way now.

Besides, there are 71 units of unused state property in the country, and investors are being searched for now.

“There are already certain investments – something is being done now in Artik to establish a textile enterprise,” Sahakyan said. “The investment amounting to $2 million would create 500 jobs here. Similat talks are being held also in Aparan and Khachik village, Vayots Dzor province.”

Other proposals are being considered now, and businessmen show interest in such projects, he added. -0---
