Aske Group plans to produce 125,000 tons of reinforcement steel

The production capacity of Aske Group that is going to launch a new plant in May or June for production of reinforcement steel, will rise to 125 thousand tons a year, which is enough to meet the entire domestic demand, according to Vahan Harutyunyan, a member of the company’s board.

The production capacity of Aske Group that is going to launch a new plant in May or June for production of reinforcement steel, will rise to 125 thousand tons a year, which is enough to meet the entire domestic demand, according to Vahan Harutyunyan, a member of the company’s board.
"Last year, the Armenian market’s demand in reinforcement steel amounted to 45,000 tons, while in 2008 some 130 thousand tons were sold," he said after prime minister Tigran Sargsyan visited the plant.
According to him, the reinforcement steel will be sold also to neighboring Georgia and Iran. "Our production will be competitive in any market," he said.
Harutyunyan said some $30 million of loans and private investor money were invested into the plant, of which 70% was used to purchase modern equipment from Austrian Siemens VAI.
Hayk Mirsoayn, head of industry development fund, said reinforcement steel was not manufactured in Soviet Armenia and currently local companies bring it from Ukraine and Georgia. He expressed hope that the plant will be able to meet the domestic demand.
In September 2011, the government of Armenia allowed Aske Group to delay payment of value added tax for imported equipment worth more than 300 million drams for three years. The new plant will recruit 350 workers and will pay each 120,000 drams wage. ($1 – 417.63 drams). -0-
