Catherine Group fruit importer pays skim AMD 600 million to government budget
YEREVAN, July 24. /ARKA/. Armenia's State Revenue Committee reported Tuesday that the inspections conducted in Catherine Group and related companies have resulted in the return of AMD 600 million ($1,250,000) to the government budget, the committee's press office reported on Tuesday.

The Catherine Group, which imports tropical fruits into Armenia, is owned by Mihran Poghosyan, who is now a member of the Armenian National Assembly and who was the country's chief bailiff before becoming an MP.

The committee's investigation division has decided to conduct repeated inspections in the companies.

Taking into account the return of the skim money to the government budget, the investigation division has decided to terminate the criminal prosecution.

However, the follow-up scrutiny gave grounds for resumption of the criminal prosecution and inspections.

The committee's investigation division ordered a new scrutiny. The preliminary inquiry is under way now. -0---
